The second session of the series hosted Prof. Gökhan Yağcı, a general and surgical oncology specialist. The talk covered current treatment approaches in obesity and the place of metabolic surgery.
We hosted the district's only online RYLA. The four-day programme brought international speakers and young participants together around ethical, human-centred leadership in the age of artificial intelligence.

Our guest was Melissa Corkum, Chief of Polio at UNICEF Pakistan. The session examined how wars and natural disasters affect polio, and what drives case numbers up and down.
The seminar with breast and endocrine surgeon Assoc. Prof. Erkan Öztürk ran for more than two hours and drew 146 people, the largest audience of the term. It reached participants from across Türkiye.
For Basic Education and Literacy Month we hosted İdil Hafızoğlu, editor at Kafasına Göre magazine. The talk was about telling your own story and finding a way into writing.
"Foundations of Prompt Engineering in ChatGPT", delivered by strategic business planning specialist Özün Çağan Altun, was opened beyond our club to Rotarians across the district.
In this session with pharmacist Özlem M. Çölkesen we looked at how mental and physical health can be looked after together.
The seminar with obstetrician Dr. Seda Tamsoy Atlıman and Melek Kılıç, president of the Temas Association, drew 137 people. It was covered in District 2430's July bulletin.
We co-hosted this conference with the Rotary E-Club of E.A.R.T.H., in collaboration with District 2430 and District 3011. Experts from the United States, India and Türkiye discussed climate resilience, social justice and the green transition, turning the partnership begun in February into a concrete event.
At the monthly ICC session on "Innovation for Human Health: Türkiye and USA Collaboration", our member Mehmet Doğaç Gülnerman spoke alongside Dr. Elif Keleş of the Rotary Club of Evanston. Our member Çınar Yeşil serves as the section's secretary for Türkiye.
At the Zone 21 summit our member Nisa Ildız Çelebioğlu moderated, Diana Maria Pirga spoke, and Kenan Ateşgöz represented the club. Proceeds from the summit's live auction went to the Polio Fund.
The Evrensel Rotaract Club, first proposed in August, held its inaugural meeting. It starts out as the district's first online Rotaract club.
Diana Maria Pirga, our member and a digital communication specialist for polio at UNICEF Pakistan, had her video published on Rotary International's official channels after it appeared in the Zone 21B journal. The club had already moved its meeting half an hour earlier to fit her time zone in Pakistan.

Dr. Özden Selcen Özmelek's talk, "Almost at Peace", asked whether peace really is no more than the absence of war. A new appointment for our member Çınar Yeşil was announced at the session as well.
Our member Nehir Öztürk attended a meeting of the Amsterdam International Rotary Club and exchanged banners on behalf of the club. Members from France, Italy, Mexico, Taiwan and Türkiye were present, and our work on artificial intelligence drew interest.
Rtn.io, the first artificial-intelligence fellowship in Rotary, was founded under our club's leadership. The initiative was featured in the July issue of the Zone 21B magazine.
The first cohort at the Otto and Fran Walter Rotary Peace Center at Bahçeşehir University included 13 fellows from Egypt, Bulgaria, Kenya, Jordan and Yemen. Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 1,800 fellows from 140 countries.

Nehir Öztürk writes about the city she lived in while completing a master's degree in health sciences at the Technical University of Munich: Olympiapark, which also houses her campus, the historic fabric of German culture, and the balance it strikes with modern life.
